Specific Feedback
This week is about completion and looking at the complete campaign in totality. Print them out. Simulate what they will look like in the actual space. Update your hardcopy portfolio. Good luck.

Reflection

Experience
Finally the time has come for submissions! I'm glad that this particular class submits earlier than the rest because having submissions for four classes at the same time would be hell on earth. I remember I was so stressed out, and my laptop constantly crashing/being a sloth didn't really help me calm down. Funny how you don't believe when people tell you everything is going to be alright until everything is alright and you go: "Huh".

I also feel that the second semester is very different compared to the first (duh haha). It's only my first year but everyone (including me) is already asking, although not vocally but I KNOW WE ALL ARE WORRIED, "what am I going to do in the future?". Most of the semester I'm trying to answer this question for myself, but I guess I'm naive because I though I would be able to know by the end of the semester? I'm still wondering now and it's week 12! HAHAHA! But nevertheless, through the projects we are thrown at in each class, I can feel myself getting closer to the answer.

To sum it up I guess the experience is very different compared to previous semesters and classes, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it's worse. I actually enjoy this semester even though it was hell during week 9-11 (coincidence? I think not) because I feel like I learn much more, and I hope I continue to learn more and more in the next semesters.

Observation
I noticed that by keeping regularly updating this blog I have become somewhat more organized (? I THINK) and I learned to write better (? MAYBE). Hopefully I can continue updating here with what I've done in other classes too, even though it's not as comprehensive. With other assignments nearing to submission as well, I've learned and practice more on my mental priority list even if sometimes I do what's not important first (haha)

I also noticed that it's nice to sit around and let everyone look at our work/look at everyone's work like we always do in most of our classes. I can't imagine how my progress would be like had this not been done. Also, I can see that even though some elements of our works are inspired but a classmate, but at the end we still get a great variety of ad campaigns.

For me it's both nice and embarrassing (though I'm not sure why) to look through my blog from the first page. It's nice because I think I'm glad I didn't take the twisted visuals route. I'M SO GLAD. It's embarrassing because my sketches are so ugly. But it kind of makes me feel nostalgic, too.

Findings
So many findings! I've learned more about my strengths (which is not twisted visuals) and weaknesses through the projects, especially after the Gardner multiple intelligence test (my results were quite surprising for myself), and I also learned how to fix my weaknesses (example is the presentation for Project 2, which I tried to make up for in Project 3). Through recognizing strong and weak points classmates can come together to help each other solve problems with another approach.

I find that there are so many correlations between each module: Design Studies (Culture and Consumerism) sometimes touch on the topics we discussed in Advertising class, there is some sort of Branding in Advertising class, etc. This kinds of make the learning process a whole, as if your understanding of a subject grows even if you're not in that specific class. I don't remember finding this in my first semester–maybe I forgot. Mostly I forgot. Also we are more exposed to the industry this semester, and that makes us very aware of the real world and we think harder about what kind of work we want to do in the future.

For me, my perception about advertising has changed because of Advertising class. I become slightly more aware of ads and unconsciously analyze them–not just their visuals but also the idea behind it. And I'm also more aware if the ads are working for me or not.

Reading books prove to be a very nice way to learn (at least for me), and I wish there are more big bookstores around this area. Reading also helps me become a better writer, as I become more conscious of the words that I pick, which is somewhat useful for writing an ad copy.

All in all, it has been a rojak semester: lots of laughs, learning, self-discovery, but also stress, tears, and sickness. I'm glad that the time we spent together as a class has allowed us to become closer, and that even if classmates come and go, we are more open towards each other both in socializing and in giving opinions about each other's work. I'm also glad for my personal development, no matter how small, and how I become more self-conscious (in a good way, of course).
